Reminder:

Rosh Chodesh (New Moon) celebration at Bill & Brenda Pollack Wednesday October 6th from 6-8 pm

Hardy Jews and their friends are welcome to a Rosh Chodesh (New Moon) heat filled celebration.

Invitation from Bill and Brenda Pollak —

In the Jewish tradition we will be gathering together to schvitz together, cause it’s better than schvitzing alone. There will be new moon gatherings at the Pollak’s sauna, to help celebrate the return of the moon’s rebirths in different parts of the sky. A warm sauna, a comfortable changing area, and a bathroom is provided. Please bring a towel and a bathing suit. Any information regarding new moons is welcome. Tidbits, prayers, (and probably complaints) are also welcome. The first of these meetings will be on Wednesday October 6th, 2010 from 6-8 pm. at the Pollaks, 1115 East Madison Ave. Meet in their back yard in back of the barn. Sauna-ing is indeed a purifying process, a cycle similar to the moon’s, in her monthly disappearings.

For further information call Bill Pollack at 472-5155.

Become a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and support the Synagogue with your dues.

During the 2009-2010 operating year we ran out of basic operating money. We were at least $6000 short and had to scramble and ask for money. It is essential that we do something differently this year so this does not happen again.

One way to contribute to Congregation Beth Shalom is to pay dues and become a member. As a member you are entitled to High Holiday tickets, the catered Break-fast, and discounts on many other activities throughout the year.

By becoming a member you are basically saying “I want the synagogue to be here for those who wish to participate and for me if I ever need it for any reason.” And YES dues can be paid in installments.

Mail your check to: Congregation Beth Shalom,

Thank you.

Soul Train to Israel

From Judy Katz:
“This is a letter from the Soul Train group. They are sponsoring another trip to Israel for people who identify themselves as community leaders. I participated in 2007 and found it to be extremely educational on many levels. We were exposed to a broad spectrum of Israeli society and perspectives, as well as spending time in enjoyable places. They treated us very well despite its being a budget tour and very fast paced for the total cost of $700.00. We met people in our group from all over the world and we are still in touch with each other. I highly recommend it!”

From Soul Train:

Dear friend,

In view of the success of our last seminars that we had the honor of having you as a participant, we have decided to continue with this tradition. Due to feed-back from fellow participants, we decided that 17 days is an optimal duration of such a seminar.

Due to a sharp raise in costs, we have decided to absorb most of it and raise the fees to US $700. I would appreciate it very much if you could help me and circulate this year seminar among your friends with your warm recommendations.
